Re: D. R. P. T. ! (dietary revamp processing thread ;) )
We LOVE the chocolate larabar recipe, especially if you add some instant coffe granules ;)
roasted salted cashews and dates taste JUST like the cashew cookie ones! OH MY GOODNESS. I just made these cupcakes for Matt's birthday. They are AH MAY ZING!!!! http://www.elanaspantry.com/flourles...late-cupcakes/ I took a choc ganache recipe from allrecipes and subbed coconut milk and halved it in case it didn't work out. It DID! Bring to a low boil 1/2 cup full-fat coconut milk, pour over 4.5oz dark chocolate chips (I used super dark choc, I think 80%?). Whisk together until melted. Put in fridge until cooled and thickened and whisk it up again. Plop on top of cupcakes. Eat 5,000. |

Is it still "dietary revamp" if the things we are gouging on are "healthy"? :shifty Cause...I totally ate the entire batch of larabars. :hide

Re: D. R. P. T. ! (dietary revamp processing thread ;) )
Subbing because we are going to do *something* this summer. Going GF/DF for the whole family for a few weeks is definitely happening when school lets out. I want to see how long my boys can go.
And I was racking my brain trying to figure out what diet crunchymum was doing, and then it hit me, "paleo-" , dinosaur diet! :bag |
Re: D. R. P. T. ! (dietary revamp processing thread ;) )
We're not doing paleo but are reducing grains. DH and I feel much better:tu Sometime in the next week and a half I'll be getting a few hours to myself. I plan on taking at least part of that time to go look through ELAD at the bookstore.

I'm hoping to take more time this summer to read and search out exactly how I want our family to be eating. GF/DF is pretty much the only thing I'm familiar with so far, apart from reading what I have time to on here, which is very limited these days.

You people and your paleo treats are messing with my willpower to keep on the straight and narrow of whole30! :giggle Seriously, I'm glad you're finding some satisfying, healthy treats, and I hope to try them in the not-too-distant future. ;) (I adore the chocolate-flavored Lara Bars that I've bought.)
My problem right now is getting enough time to plan/cook ahead. We ate out three times this weekend (eating legal foods---except perhaps unknown oils or other possible ingredients used) :shifty :bag |
Re: D. R. P. T. ! (dietary revamp processing thread ;) )
:nails I'm going wheat (gluten, maybe)-free tomorrow. I've needed to for awhile, as it's my go-to comfort food in ways that are not healthy. Plus what I've read about it's affect on mental clarity/health makes me think it's just something I should be pursuing.
I need to cut out dairy and egg also (they both make me very nauseous and off-feeling), but I know myself better than to think I can do it all at once. We are a family that has eaten Out more than we have eaten In for a verrryy long time. It's wrong that I'm this nervous about not having bread. I love bread. |
Re: D. R. P. T. ! (dietary revamp processing thread ;) )
:hug fwiw, I thought I'd be dying without bread, and I eally haven't missed it much. :shrug

Ugh! I spoke too soon about how I don't think about sugar anymore.
I had a rough week and weekend and am feeling really emotionally vulnerable right now. I want sugar so very badly. I don't have any in the house, so it's okay, but man what I wouldn't give for . . . for anything with the combo of sugar and chocolate. :blush I had a brownie made with sucanat earlier and it does not do the trick. :( I am addicted to sugar. When I came home after the long weekend and wanted to forget about it all, I new I couldn't forget it without sugar. I'm left just having to deal with the emotions and it feels bad. :( |
:hugheart I've been there. Try eating something really fatty, like salted chicken skin, avocado with salt, or a spoonful of butter or evco.
