My dad used to make one that was easily as good as the restaurant, and it had egg in it. :yes |
Re: Do you have a GOOD orange julius recipe?
We found out that rice milk makes a good orange julius. Lots of ice, a fresh orange or two, vanilla rice milk. You can add a frozen banana as well. You can use frozen oj concentrate if you want. But, I love it with the fresh orange.

Yep. It had egg for sure :yes That's probably what you're missing. |
Re: Do you have a GOOD orange julius recipe?
thanks everyone! I'll try it with egg. That's what I didn't have in there. That and added sugar. I don't think it needs the sugar, but probably needs the egg to make it more creamy?
---------- Post added at 05:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:29 PM ---------- OR the instant pudding packet? I think I'm going to try the pudding first. Raw egg scares me......:nails |
Re: Do you have a GOOD orange julius recipe?
where i used to work they said the reason for the sugar being powdered was to make them "frothy"
|
Re: Do you have a GOOD orange julius recipe?
thanks!

Re: Do you have a GOOD orange julius recipe?
You can use egg powder. But, seriously the rice milk gets a frothyness and the perfect taste if you use ice.

Thanks!
Now how many of you want an orange julius???????? :P~ |
Re: Do you have a GOOD orange julius recipe?
I make it with:
6oz frozen oj 1 cup milk 1 cup water (I very those above two depending on illness- colds = less milk more water; picky children who need more calories get more milk 1/2c sugar (granulated or powdered) 1 tsp vanilla extract ice to thickness/desire Oh, and my Kitchenaid blender crushes the bajeebers out of that ice and makes it nice and smooth!! :yum |
Re: Do you have a GOOD orange julius recipe?
You could coddle the egg if you didn't want to use it straight up raw.

Re: Do you have a GOOD orange julius recipe?
what does coddle mean and how do you do it???
---------- Post added at 12:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:03 PM ---------- ok. This is what we just made and it is pretty good. :yum 1 1/2 cups orange juice 1 cup milk 1 cup water 1 TBSP vanilla extract 1 egg 6-7 big ice cubes Blend in blender to break up ice. I put a packet of xylitol (I am not eating sugar right now) in my cup. My dd did not. Both ways it is de-li-cious!!!! The egg definitely made the difference. That and I added more vanilla too. I will try it the other ways too!! |
