Sat in a Chevrolet Traverse yesterday.

:)

It was really nice! Seats 7.. Even though it is the same length as my Odyssey it seems so big!

I sat in all positions, leg room for all!

I need to test drive one and also test drive a newer Odyssey. Thinking of buying something 2-3 years old with no more than 50,000miles on it.

I need to do pros and cons of SUV verses van. I really like my minivan. The Traverse seemed to be the same inside as my van.

I don't need 4 wd or towing , we have a truck.

My van is having an AC issue and I think the fan relay (whatever that is) is going out. Sometimes when we turn off the engine the fan runs for a minute or two, it has never done that.

I have so many questions! When do we buy? What do I buy? Do we save my van for dd1? Praying for wisdom. My plan had been at the very end of this year but maybe it is time. :shrug3 Yes, I know Honda's are known for lasting, but if we are able to replace and not have these every 6 month repairs maybe we should? Mine is a 2007 with 161,000miles

No one wants to talk about car buying to have something else to talk about? :giggle

I wasn't sure what a Traverse was, but I googled and it sure is pretty. :)

Our Toyota Sequoia has over 300,000 miles on it. My dh works on it when we need it, and we'll drive it til it falls over. I'm no help, but planning to buy a new car is fun.

I wonder if trading your van for a small efficient car for your dd would be good?

DH says to keep the van for dd. Or give it to ds and give her the car. We don't need one for her for another year though. I don't want to give a minivan to a college student (ds).

DH really wants me to like the Chevy Traverse because "it's a Chevy". :giggle And we have $3,000 GM points to go towards it.

What I need to do first is figure out what I want so when it is time to buy I've done at least that much.

A friend tried to tell me tonight to buy new and get a 0% interest loan for 84 months. I do NOT want a car loan for 8 years, that's crazy! But then dh said you get that loan and pay well over the monthly payment to have it paid off in 5 years. :shrug3

I have a Chevy traverse- a 2011 with AWD. They do come in FWD only models which will increase your mpg. Mine only gets about 16 mpg but that is almost no highway driving and lots of hilly back roads. I like it overall, it has been fairly dependable, the interior is nice with a good amount of room, and like I said I have the AWD version and have never had an issue getting where I need to go. All the being said we are looking to get a suburban because we just need more room. I am due with twins in June and with having to have two rear facing car seats in the captains seats in the second row and three boys that are growing fast, I think the suburban is going to work better for us long term.

I have a 2017 Traverse. It is roomy for adults! it's not quite as easy to install a bunch of carseats in as a van would be. there isn't quite as much standing room and no stow and go seats. I don't know what your carseat requirements are. there are anchors in the two captain chairs and one in the middle of the third row. There isn't as much storage space as my town and country van had. the double stroller takes up all of the storage space when i have 4 carseats in, all schoolbags go in the front seat.
My husband is totally jealous of my car and thinks it's nicer than his. I was really looking for an affordable honda pilot but found the traverse for cheaper instead =)

I am down to just a hbb in my kids. But I babysit a 9 mo old so need that RF and sometimes (not more than once a week) another toddler RF as well. I did not see any LATCH in the 3rd row.

My husband wants me to pick a Chevy. :giggle He has a Silverado.

The sticker on the floor model I looked at said 21mpg highway.

I like my van. To me the only benefit of the Traverse is a bit higher ground clearance, my Odyssey is low.

I need to go test drive a newer Odyssey and a Traverse. Think it will have to wait a few weeks though until this virus slows down.

It won't be long before car dealers are offering crazy good deals, in my opinion.

As long as there's no prepayment penalty, I'd take a 0% loan. You can find free amortization schedules to tell you how much to pay to shorten the loan to whatever length you prefer.

An 8 year car loan is CRAZY. You'd be so upside down in that loan you'd throw up.

Re: Sat in a Chevrolet Traverse yesterday.

ya there is no latch in the back row, just the two captains chairs, and one anchor in the center rear. When i have the 4 and 5 year old forward facing they go in captain chairs and I put the two 1 year olds rear facing in the third row with a seat belt install. (the graco extend 2 fit works great here, the chicco nextfit is rather tight, the safety first everfit does not fit safely) Then I have to open the trunk and wiggle them over the backseat and into their seats, at one it's easy, at 2 or 3 that would be a whole lot harder

I have ds2's hbb then the 10month old babysitting infant RF. About once a week the Graco Milestone also RF.

When this virus is over, I'll go look at a newer Odyssey also. Then test drive each.

I guess in the mean time I can do some price comparison. If we are going to save my '07 for dd1 then we might as well wait. Oh! the advantage to 2-3 years old is cheaper taxes.
