Yummy Variation on Fudge Brownies
Here's a cheap way to add some variety to fudge brownies. We eat a lot of these because they don't cost much, and I have discovered that even homemade fudge brownies can be boring after a while.
Before making a 9x13 pan of brownies, pulverize about 4 cups plain pretzels. Measure 1 1/2 cups pretzel crumbs. Combine this with a stick of melted butter and 1/4 cup sugar, press into your buttered 9x13 pan, and bake until fairly solid, about 8 minutes at 350. Let cool at least 10 minutes while making the brownies. Pour the batter on top of the crust, spread it out evenly, and bake as usual. |

Here's another one:
Make a 9x13 pan of brownies using 1 cup flour and 4 eggs to produce a sturdy brownie. (I may have posted this elsewhere with different proportions, but this worked out the best.) Fold in 1 cup unsweetened fresh or frozen raspberries just before pouring into the pan, then stud the top with 1 more cup raspberries. Bake as usual. YUM. |
