Fixing my house to sell. Questions and advice

We r fixing our house to sell. We need out of here . Our house is in really good shape so we r “shining it up.” Im wanting/needing advice about some things....

First question — My dd’s room needs paint. She has lavender walls and one has blackboard paint - almost an entire wall functions as a blackboard. Even that needs paint cuz her chalkboard markers stained it!!! We have 5 bedrooms and 2 baths so our home is a family home (which will attract children). Do we paint over the blackboard or go to lavender Both have downsides— paint over means several coats; however blackboard paint isn’t cheap. ;) I’m leaning towards painting the blackboard lavender

The lavender with create a more "blank slate" look which helps home buyers who are less imaginative see the potential to make it their own.
Look into a heavy duty primer to help with the cover up.

Always get your realtor's opinion but its very likely he'll encourage neutral over anything else.

I think the heavy duty primer is Kilz. Your dh can ask at work. Consumer Reports reviews of paint are worth reading to save time and money. It will tell you which Behr paint is the best value. It's worth paying more for better coverage to save coats.

Ask the realtor—beige or off white may well be better that lavender if you can repaint the whole room. But gettin grid of the black will help. Buyers don’t like things that will be a challenge to paint over either.

Dh looked tonight and We have enough paint from when we redid the room to just use the same color even on the spot w the blackboard since we have primer. DH is fastidious about our paint and building supplies. We mostly need brushes rollers and elbow grease. I told him people thought we should cover it so he’s good covering it up.

We’ve asked and Our realtor has implied our house is going to fly off the market even if we don’t change much or do much . But we have the supplies so wanna make use of our resources. And we r definitely depersonalizing everything

We r in a crazy sellers market. Several houses we wanted to look at this weekend have an accepted offer with int 2-3 days of being on the market.
