Off to the tablet/phone repair place soon.
DD's Amazon Fire looks like the screen is cracked, we lifted the protector and it is not. But the picture looks like it.
We bought it last November , warranty was only 90 days. Just looked up, there was/is a 1,2,or3 yr warranty, which we did not get. sigh She says she did not throw it, drop it , or throw anything at it. She was really mad yesterday when I sent her to room, I suspect she threw something and didn't know it was there. We'll see how much it will be to repair. |

How frustrating. :hug2 I hope it's not too expensive.

Re: Off to the tablet/phone repair place soon.
We went to the place that was open today (Saturday) and they can't get the parts they need for this Fire tablet. But it could be $100 to repair. The tablet was $120.
Will go to another place next week. If it's more than $50 then she'll just have to wait for her next birthday to save money and buy a new one. :( |
Re: Off to the tablet/phone repair place soon.
The 8 GB Kindle Fire is $50 right now, the 16 GB is $80. Is it the kids' edition you have? That says it comes with a 2 year warranty, no questions asked. It's $100 for 16 GB.

She's thinking she might get an iPod touch. I myself really really like the parental controls on the Apple products (they cost so much more though!). Was not too impressed with the Fire controls. Even though I blocked internet there was still a way she could get on it if she wanted to. |
Re: Off to the tablet/phone repair place soon.
We have apple products too and I agree the controls are very good.

I know! It's a killer! Because Apple products have EXCEPTIONAL unbeatable parental controls but come with two big downsides
1. the cost obviously ;) 2. they force upgrade too regularly imo. We're not a "latest gadget family" and I hate that the older systems become obsolete and absolutely unusable fairly quickly imo because of the iOs updates that are required. |

Before she bought the tablet, she was going to use ds' old iPod touch but couldn't put anything new on it. So it's not any good. |
