How do you keep shower doors clean?

We looked at a house to buy that has shower doors. Shower doors are soooo hard to keep clean at the edges where soap scum collects!

Recently I was introduced to cleaning with coke. You apply to the surfaces and let sit for about 10 minutes and the scum and deposits wipe off easily

Good idea, but it wouldn't sit on a vertical door, just the track. hhmmm

I would remove the shower doors and install a curtain- much easier than dealing with keeping them clean (but we have extremely hard water, so that makes it much more difficult!)

My mom has banned bar soap from their shower door bathrooms and that's worked really well.

I hope to never have another shower door! They're awful. I think the only thing to do to stay ahead of the scummy build up is to use a towel to dry the door and blot up the water that sits in the track after every single shower.

You hang a squeegie in the shower and use it on the door immediately after showering, every time. It keeps the door very clean.

You can spray the coke on everywhere and let it sit for that 10 minutes or so.Or pour some on a cloth or sponge and apply

This works for the doors themselves, as does spraying Clean Shower after each shower IME, but what about the tracks at the bottom? Those get nasty when the water sits there.

I would but then you have the screw holes and marks from it and this is a newer remodeled bathroom.

The master bath has a shower stall and separate tub, that door doesn't have a track. Will look again when we go back.

As pretty as this house is and with that buyers closing cost offer, I don't think I'll let the shower door be a deal breaker. But ugh! It will get gross. I hate cleaning bath tubs! I wipe the toilet and sink down semi-often with cleaning wipes but not bathtub as often.

I have a glass shower wall and door, and I squeegie them after every shower, and it works well. I do have a track at the bottom, and water does sit there. I don't wipe it or anything. But it comes clean easily when I scrub it, which is actually embarrassingly long in between cleanings. I used to have hard water, and now I don't because we have a water softener. But either way, the track at the bottom is fine.:shrug3

In my house we have 2 showers with glass doors. I use one and DH uses the other. His is covered in scum and mine is relatively clear. He uses bar soap and I don't.

Does the house have hard water? If yes, either get a water softener or remove the door. I'm guessing it doesn't have hard water because it looked clear in the photo.

No bar soap. Bar soap is banned in my house because I refuse to clean soap scum. I have zero soap scum. :dance

Interesting. DH uses Ivory and I use Kiss My Face or soap from the farmer's market. Wonder if that kind matters.

When I had a shower door at another house many years ago there was that pink scum under the seal at the edge of the glass and frame, no way to get it out. I was soooo happy to not have a shower door!

I don't think so. I have to ask my mom, she once said when visiting that our water was either soft or hard, I can't remember which.

What do you use for body soap? And do you think goat milk soap or olive oil (Kiss My Face) would be different than Ivory?
