WiFi passwords on Android Tablets
 

I want to set up my Samsung tablet so that the WiFi password needs to be manually entered in order for the internet to be accessed. How do I do that? It connects automatically.

Also, does anyone know how to set it up so th at there is no guest user option?

The guest option is in the router settings.

I'm pretty sure that connect automatically is a phone setting, not sure if tablets have that option or not.

I am sorry I was not clear. My Samsung galaxy has a guest user account. It requires no pin, password, or pattern key to access the tablet. The guest WiFi needs a guest password, and that is from the router, but that is not what I mean. I thought of the user acct issue as an aside after asking about cancelling the ability to connect automatically.

My tablet is set up to connect to the WiFi automatically. I can't figure out how to change that. I want the kids to have to ask before they use it.

Ok, if you tell it to forget the connection, you can start over and not check the remember box. That might work. Or maybe there's a connect automatically box you can leave empty.

There must be a way to remove the guest account, but I don't have a tablet. I have a galaxy phone.

I think you'd have to manually log out and forget the connection each time.

The way we handle it is to manage the entire wifi through the router. Ie. the wifi is entirely shut off in the house. When the children ask to use it I go through my hardwired to the internet lap top and turn on the wifi for a time. That allows them to connect all their devices.

But yes, for us it's an all or nothing thing. No wifi or wifi turned on with permission. It works because we have hard wired anything that we want to have constant internet connection (my computer, tv for netflix and hulu, and telephone). BUT there is likely a way that you can turn on and off just the guest wifi through your router and handle it similarly.
