Making a Lego cake - marshmallow substitute?

I'm making this Lego cake from scratch and with homemade natural food coloring, and I want to avoid the marshmallows that make the dots on top. What could I substitute them with?

Cupcakes or mini cupcakes?

Reece peanut butter cups? Oreo cookies? Not sure those are good subs for marshmallows if you're looking for healthy.

It wouldn't be edible, but would the bottoms of an egg carton work?

I could bake some batter in mini cupcakes cups.

Two good ideas, let's see what I make tomorrow!

I now belong in the "cake fail" hall of fame. :shifty Natural food coloring produces pastels, and this Lego cake was WAY too time consuming. I'm done with themed birthday cakes, ain't nobody got time for that! :lol

:hug2. I totally understand. I tried cool cakes with natural dyes a few times. Now my go to cake is black bean chocolate & pb cake or cheesecake. I just buy candles & toys to put on top. The flavor is much more impressive to most of the people eating it & kids can keep the toys
