Re: Flea Medication Suggestions

Thank you for that information. Do those flea tablets have an allergic reaction? I have been hearing about that flea pill but I'm worried that it might cause adverse effects on my dogs. Their skins are little sensitive.
But I guess it's really effective since the fleas on your cat were completely eliminated.

They say they last 8 months, so we just buy one every spring since fleas aren't an issue here in the winter. We used to always struggle with fleas, but haven't seen any since switching to Seresto collars a couple of years ago.

Thanks for this MrsHutch. Did the Seresto collar cause an allergy or skin reddening to your dog?

I assume you've already tried flea shampoo and frontline?

Thanks for your suggestions, ECingMama. I have been using Frontline but the fleas keep on coming back. By the way, what should I do with the rose geranium oil? Should I apply it directly on their coat?

The directions on that website said to put on their skin at the base of their neck and base of tail. That's what we've done. It says 1-2 drops. Mine comes out pretty quickly so it's hard to only get 1-2 drops. It smells pretty intense. I tend to only use it when we're hiking although I did put it on last week because of being outside in tall grass.

Other sites have talked about putting on collars for *preventative* flea protection.

We saw the vet today. No signs of fleas. :phew And they aren't bad in my area anyway! The vet tech doesn't even treat her dogs at all! (And they don't get fleas.)

I really hope you're able to get this under control very soon! :hugheart

No, it's never bothered our dog, cat, or our skin when we touch it.

Guys, I think I need your help again.
One of my Dalmatians is currently suffering from joint pain. The vet suggested that I should get him a ramp. Do any of you know where I can get one? I saw this roll up dog ramp when I was searching online. I wonder if this would be effective and worth an investment. I would appreciate your suggestions.

Foxlady, I don't know about ramps, but my English Pointer mix has a bad hip from where she was likely hit by a car at some point before she came to us. Switching her to a grain free dog food (we use Rachael Ray's Just 6) and adding some chewable dog glucosamine with chondroitin supplements helped her tremendously.

Advantage, Frontline, or Nexguard. I buy the first two off of Ebay.

And wash their bedding and vacuum your house.
