Favorite Brew Method for Coffee?
Do you like french press, stovetop espresso pot (moka), old fashioned percolator or drip coffee maker?
I have a small electric espresso maker that I like and I recently tried an Italian stovetop espresso maker. I do like french press, but the flavor isn't as strong. My usual standby is the electric drip coffee maker. |
Re: Favorite Brew Method for Coffee?
My favorite, bar none, is good coffee in a Bunn-o-Matic. It makes me fifty kinds of happy.
Other than that, I do love expresso, and I am very happy with our Keurig. |
Re: Favorite Brew Method for Coffee?
French press if I'm drinking regular coffee :yes

Re: Favorite Brew Method for Coffee?
I use a stainless steel stove top espresso pot now :)

I love french press coffee. It can be made stronger with longer steeping times but IME it never gets too bitter or astringent. My drip coffee maker broke a while back so I've been brewing by simply putting the grounds in a muslin bag and steeping it by the cup. It comes out tasting basically the same as in a french press.

Re: Favorite Brew Method for Coffee?
We're not currently drinking coffee....well, dh snuck a cup of instant this morning and told me later...and then I read this thread and now I'm getting a hankering for it. :giggle
We have a drip coffee maker and a percolator that you use on the stove. Of those, the percolator makes the best (dark roast) coffee. My friend has a french press and I really liked that, too. They are expensive, though, and I'm not sure I need 3 ways of making real coffee. :giggle Although, the price is right on this one...though it's a bit bright for my tastes :cool |
Re: Favorite Brew Method for Coffee?
I think I want this stainless steel french press. I break the glass ones.

Re: Favorite Brew Method for Coffee?
I have heard great things about cold drip but haven't tried it yet. I have to use way too many grounds to get good flavor through my french press. I think. Been a while since I have used it. We are currently using a drip but I don't like it. My parents have the Kuerig but I can't get it strong enough for the quantity I drink. :bag I would still like one though. someone had shown me a cool type of brewing system the other day but I cant' find it now.

French Press because I'm the only one drinking it. :)

Re: Favorite Brew Method for Coffee?
I don't drink coffee, but when we lived in Germany DH got his first taste of french press coffee. Nothing else will do for him now. He just loves it! He's an avid coffee drinker. We've broken several of the glass containers.
btw, about the SS ones. What do y'all think of SS leaching metals, especially if something acidic is in there? I'd be interested in a SS one for our next one, but I worry about that. |
Re: Favorite Brew Method for Coffee?
French press. I like how it doesn't filter out the coffee oils. It also takes very little counter space.
We have a Bodum Chambord iirc. They're available for about $30, so I don't find them expensive compared to standard (drip, I think?) coffeemakers. |
