do I have to thaw it before putting it in the crockpot?

Re: frozen roast
Food safety experts say yes, but lots of people do it and don't get sick :shrug3

Re: frozen roast
no no no no NOOOOO!!!!! Don't bother! That's called PREPARATION and it's for WEIRDOES!!!!
I just did a frozen crock pot roast yesterday. How timely. I had it in the crock pot on high for 6.5 hours. I added 2 cups of water. Then when there was 1 hour left I added carrots and potatoes. And it was good. |
Re: frozen roast

Re: frozen roast
You don't have to. If it is thawed I like to give a quick browning in some oil to enhance flavor and presentation.

Re: frozen roast
So do I prep it like normal?
|
Re: frozen roast
I don't for BBQ, I do for roast. I like to sear my roast first, though.
|
Re: frozen roast
How do you normally prep yet?
|
Re: frozen roast
seasonings and beef stock, garlic & onion. Cook forever, then add vegs. :shrug

Re: frozen roast
I usually don't think far enough in advance to thaw it out first so it goes in frozen. I just try to make sure if I cook it from frozen that I put it on early in the morning and turn it on low so it has time to get more tender.
