Can I leave a cooking crock pot alone for 10 hrs?

I would love to cook more in the crockpot...especially since using the stove in my house really makes it HOT in the summer. But I'm gone at work for 10 hours. Is that too long? What could I cook for that long? Most recipes I see are for 5-6 hours.

Usually the 5-6 hours are for the high setting, and the low setting usually goes for 10-12 hours. Go ahead -- that's the whole point of crock pots.

Yep, I used to do it a lot when I was gone all day (now I can come home at lunch, which is nice). The only problem I ever had was that chicken breasts tended to get mushy and fall apart. Other things, like chili or soups and roasts or pork chops, were great. :)

:yes with everyone else. That's the best part of a crock pot. Turn it on, leave all day, and come home to dinner.

That's great news! I'm looking forward to it. Thanks mamas!
