Forgot to label jars 1 and 2 with start date. Will have to navigate based on smell and taste.

How have I not seen this thread before :scratch

We had to stop our KT for a bit because the kids were having some internal fungus issues. I think those have cleared. I realize the probiotics in the KT should have helped, but I was worried they wouldn't. We have too much yeast too. So... After a week an a half of Oregon grape root detox, I have more KT brewing.

:sigh

Fail. I double fermented with juice, stuck it in the fridge and nada. No fizz (I don't know what happened!) and it pretty much just tastes like mildly sour juice.

What kind of juice?

I noticed my pomegranate juice (which I added a smidge of sugar to) made good fizz but the fizz was fizzier the longer it sat in the fridge before I drank it. I thought that was interesting

it was a cherry juice. I left it out on the counter for 48 hours, then put it in the fridge

And after I posted last, I went and tasted a different jar. Tastes good. Kombucha like. Little bit of fizz.

holy stink, I'm confused. Drink it or no?

I don't know if this has been suggested or not, but I like using fruit flavored tea in mine. My favorites have been a black cherry tea and peach tea. :yum

I can do the exact same thing twice and get fizz in one but not another.

Haddassah-- for your first ferment are you covering with cloth?

I had it in a jar with airflow. I found if I put cloth over it, the bugs were somehow finding ways to get in (darn determined bugs) which made me freak out, because I was having to change the cloth so often.

I don't know where the bugs are coming from either, as we have some pretty awesome screens up, including on our balcony window/door. :scratch :think

I use a coffee filter over the top of my jar - secured with a rubber band

For us it depends on which grocery we bought our produce at. Bananas are terrible about bringing fruit flies.

How are the seals on your jars/bottles? If it leaks water when upside down then it leaks air = no fizz.
