If it is NOT your only SCOBY you could try it, knowing that you could throw off that whole genealogical line of SCOBYs. Meaning, keep that SCOBY and all of its babies labeled separately. If you ever get mold from one SCOBY of that line, I would throw them all out.

Personally, I wouldn't risk it. :shrug It's likely that they used a natural peach flavoring, but the SCOBY isn't supposed to be in contact with any flavoring, even your own fruit.

I would use that flavored tea to make regular iced tea. :yum

In all the manuals I saw, they said to not use fruit tea because it can kill your scoby. I lamented that for a short while, as we really love the fruit/flower teas they have here... but DH is still using those for hot teas in winter and spring.

I'd save those for sweet tea like Lisa said. :yes

My bottled KT is doing great!! Each bottle has it's own little baby culture along the top. :)

I tasted a little of the strawberry flavored one I made...YUM!!! I'm working on a bottle of Synergy so when that's done (I go through a bottle in 2-3 days) I'm going to drink one of mine.

I'm trying to grow a scoby from a bottle of original syngery...its been 3 days :shrug3 I bought two bottles incase this first way of trying doesn't work.

I read some people suggest to just throw whole bottle in and let it do its thing, and others suggested the actual tea brew then add syngery drink. I'm trying just drink first:shrug3

Oh but...I LOVE this stuff. seriously if I wasn't pregnant I could have drank the whole bottle in 1 sitting. I had to really ration myself. :giggle.

Pumpkin loved it too.

Is the store stuff very different from homemade?

I think the store stuff is sweeter if it has fruit purée in it.
I had my first bottle of plain where I added sugar to get more bubbles. It was super bubbly.

I have a SCOBY!!! I think it needs to grow some more, though. Big pic b/c I'm too lazy to resize on my tablet :shifty

It took me several weeks to get a good size SCOBY from my GT kombucha. :)

Can you make KT with all black tea? I've been using a combination of green and black tea, but I'm running out of green and have a TON of black. I'd prefer not to buy more green if I can get away with using only black.

Anyone here only use black? Can anyone compare the green/black and black only finished products for me?

I have. I think it's ok. I like both of them just as much.

All black is what I use. I thought that was standard, actually. It has worked fine for me! :)

I agree with the others, all black tea is what I've seen recommended as the best choice for the long term health of your scoby.

Yeah, black is standard. Too much green can kill it eventually.
