Can I buy edible cookie dough somewhere?
 

A very unhealthy food question.

I'm a stickler for food safety so I won't eat anything with raw eggs in it or anything where the package says not to eat it raw. Are there any brands of cookie dough that say they are okay just to eat?

Yum. Don't quote me on this but Papa Murphy's sells cookie dough and I am pretty sure you can eat it raw. Google seems to confirm but ask at the store to make sure you are comfortable with it.

Um. . . no :shifty Way too lazy for that!

I did know they sold cookie dough- wasn't sure if you could eat it raw or not. We do have a Papa Murphy's. Thanks.

There's a variety that is sold at Fresh Market but I forget the name of the brand. But it definitely said on the label that it wasn't for baking. I bet Whole Foods or similar would also carry it.

But I usually just don't care about the eggs. I didn't realize you could buy pasturized eggs!

The other option would be to buy cookie dough mix in a box and just leave out the eggs. (If you're just going to eat the raw dough, it's no biggie. If you want the option of baking them, you'd have to add some sort of leavener - flax eggs, etc. If I'm making chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, I'd make the cookie dough minus the eggs. )

I saw this recommended too....just add some more liquid for right consistency and then freeze?

Technically pretty much any store available dough is safe as it has pasteurized eggs etc.. however being pregnant take extra caution.
We occasional buy the immaculate brand gf cookie dough which doesnt contain egg.. I've munched it raw and haven't died yet...

I don't care about the raw eggs-- but I heard recently that the flour is also a concern. Even if eggs are pasteurized, unbaked flour can be contaminated. That doesn't stop me, but if you're concerned you can take care of that easily enough by just sticking the plain flour on a tray in the oven for a bit. I saw a safe-to-eat cookie dough recipe video on Facebook recently that did this.
