I just read The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Very dark piece of literature but the love for that building just oozed from the book.

Apparently they were about to start Mass when the fire started (ended tours, but not services). Apparently the police had to come and speak directly to the priest in order to get everyone out. I joked that I could see the priest saying "Blessing in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Now everyone grab a valuable piece of art and exit in an orderly fashion, depositing your saved item with police across the street."
