I also think some of it is how you treat the first illness you get . Winter is just sick season and sometimes its inevitable no matter how strong your immune system is. But how you handle the first one thrown your way can determine IMO what happens after that. I've been sucked into the vicious cycle and I see friends going through it winter after winter. Their child gets an ear infection, treat with antibiotic and motrin, a week later they have pnemonia, treat with antibiotic and motrin, week later they have another ear infection, and so on and so on. So...my advise is use antibiotics as a last resource and only if the dr is sure its bacterial. At least have them check their white blood count to see if its high which is sign its bacterial instead of just assuming. If you do use antibiotics really double up on probiotics. When they are sick nurture them big time. No sugar, lots of healing foods and herbs, probiotics. Don't treat symptoms unless you or your child is in serious pain and its effecting their overall health. Symptoms are your bodies way of healing and getting the sickness out. Remember natural antibiotics include: garlic, grapefruit seed extract, apple cidar vinegar, and honey. And they won't kill off the good bacteria and they also kill viruses and fungi so include some of these things in your diet during sick season.
