Brave got cellulitis about three years ago, after an unknown type of bug bite while playing in the grass at a friends house. He ear was not oozing anything, but was red and quite swollen to say the least. We immediately put him on the peds rx antibiotics, plus I gave Herbs for Kids Deep Immune Support with echinacea and astragalus 3x day for a week, along with 500 mg chewable vita C 2x day. I also made sure he got a good hearty bath every single day and afterward, swabbed the ear with Jason's aloe vera/tea tree oil gel (which I kept in the fridge and he said felt good).
My son never had further problems with his ear, but you know that ear is *still* more red than the other at times, like when he is exherting himself through play. I have had three peds check it out throughout the years and they all say it is not something to be concerned about, nor can I find any info about it myself. But he's never had any problems...
Watch for increased swelling and for the ear to feel hot to the touch (warmer than the other ear at least), signs of continued or increased infection. Cellulitis is basically when common staph bacteria on our skin gets inside from even a tiny puncture, and if treated right away with abx is generally manageable without further problems.
