DS2 is 7 weeks old tomorrow and has had a rash for a few weeks now, since about 3 weeks. It started as normal looking infant acne on his face, then spread to his scalp, torso, and diaper area and started to look more like a rash. It's gone from his face now, but has been lingering on his chest, back, diaper area, and upper arms. I've been mostly caffeine and dairy-free for almost 2 weeks with no apparent change. He has had no digestive symptoms. Now that he's getting enough to eat and has had some CST work, he isn't fussy. But still the rash.

So I noticed it is only where his clothes rub him the most. All the rest of us (DH, DS1 and I) have sensitive skin to some degree. I am mildly allergic to the cold and can get an itchy rash or even hives during sudden temperature changes. I noticed that the baby's rash became more pronounced when exposed to cool air, and the skin on his bottom gets red when wiped during diaper changes (DS1 had this too as a little baby), so I'm thinking this might be a sensitive skin issue and possibly reacting to detergent. I've been using Tide Free for clothes and diapers.

What detergents have worked for others who have babies with sensitive skin? Bonus points for affordable. I'm not sure what to do about diapers. Tide Free is what has worked to keep the stink and rashes away for DS1. I've also used RnG which was a disaster. Even with the TF I need to strip the diapers every couple of months as we have very mineral rich (not hard, but lots of calcium especially) water here and it really builds up no matter what.
