I have a maternal family history of thyroid issues. Personally I have nodules on both sides. I keep them maintained with homeopathics.
They first popped up when I was starting college. I had a fine needle aspiration biopsy done and it came back benign. No swelling issues then. Didn't have issues again until after my 4th was born. I started dropping weight like crazy and then had A LOT of neck swelling. Had an u/s done then a the pcp referred me to an endocrinologist. He did the FNA biopsy and it came back benign BUT the he wanted to do a thyroidectomy...just in case. Instead I consulted a nutritionalist and clinical herbalist (same person) for alternatives since #1 I was still nursing my son and #2 I didn't want to be on meds the rest of my life! She put me on a herbal therapy and it worked immediately! Now I take a homeopath (Thyropath by Energetix) on an as needed basis.
So know there are alternatives for treatment. If you don't have anyone local, the lady who I worked with does Skype consultations.
