I am specifically thinking of a turn like this when I leave my neighborhood to take DD to school. There are two lanes on each side of a median. The other car who is turning left from straight across from me always takes the “inside” lane We never cross and then turn on the outside of each other.

Scrolling down, this link shows scenarios that are not the same thing at all that the social media post shows.
Realistically, with a u-turn, one person is already going to be in place before the other, and is likely going to “hug” the curb closest to them. But with left turns, or left turns coming from a cross street, into a divided roadway, usually I have seen people doing it the way the post says is correct. Sometimes they don’t, and then I go with the flow. Everyone has to go with the flow for where they live.
That post also says roundabouts are safer, but not everyone knows how to use them, either. Maybe if they are not from a place where they are common, they aren’t aware. But so many people do not yield to roundabout traffic! Or they cross lanes abruptly in roundabouts with more than one lane, or don’t stay in a lane at all.
