If it has never been opened I assume that means it is not connected to anyone else since it was never set up.

Amazon does send them logged on to the buyer's account. I hope that has changed or changes soon because it has caused more problems than just being impossible to log fully out. People have handed devices to their children who then run up charges, not knowing it was logged in.
