I do have some plastic mats, though I mostly use them for meat prep (a yellow one for chicken, a red one for red meat, and a blue one for fish) because they can be sterilized and put through the dishwasher.
I do have oil and wax for my boards, though I could definitely be using both products a lot more My bamboo board was really thin (less than 1/2") and I think that is part of the reason why it split.
Bamboo does seem to be cheapest on Amazon. But at the same time, I want to get something that lasts.
