Yes, if you cook a lot of rice, then a rice cooker is a good investment. We eat rice many, many times a week. My son LOVED living in Japan because he could get rice at almost any restaurant. I can cook rice on top of the stove, but the rice cooker makes it so much easier.
My first rice cooker was a used one a Japanese friend of mine gave me. I could leave the rice in there overnight and have it still nice and fresh the next day.
A rice cooker simplifies things so much. Put the rice and water and whatever else in and press a button or two and walk away. You could do that long before you want to eat because most will keep it nice and warm for hours.
