Default Spalding/Writing Road to Reading

Has anyone here used the Spalding method?

My son has dyslexia and dysgraphia (along with a couple of other problems). He is making slow but steady progress in learning to read with AAR. However, at a recent assessment the speech pathologist recommended Spalding for dysgraphia.

She wants to have weekly or fortnightly sessions with him in which she will set work and have me do it daily with him at home. The problem with this is that it will be very expensive (not to mention what to do with my other kids.) She did ask me if I was Spalding trained.

So, I am wondering if anyone has used The Writing Road to Reading, specifically the writing component of it. What is it like? Is it hard to implement from the book? How complete is it as a LA programme? Does it cover up to Grade 6, as I thought I saw mentioned somewhere?

Otherwise, has anyone done the online training with Spalding? Was it hard to complete, or a heavy workload? Was it beneficial? How well equipped would I be to implement the writing component of the programme?

Thank you, in advance,

Natalie
