Ds1 (5) is Lego Obsessed. He pretty much plays with Lego from the moment he wakes up until the very last minute he goes to sleep at night.
A little about our situation:
We recently moved into a 1600sq ft "4" bedroom rental house while our home is being built. Our new home won't be finished until sometime early next year, we have a few months more here and we need a solution to make this more livable.
We're a family of 7 and we all work and school at home, this is uncomfortably snug.
A little about our house:
It's technically a 4 bedroom split floor plan house but the 4th bedroom is right off the front door and has 2 glass french doors as entrance to the room. We're using it as a school room of sorts. We have all the kids computers (the 4 school age kids each have one on a small minimalist desk), a small table for puzzles and tech projects.
The 2 bedrooms on the western side of the house are being used as DD1's bedroom/DH's office space during the day and dd2&dd3 have the other bedroom.
The master bedroom is huge! It has our king sized bed+ Ds1&2 full sized bed on one half and a comfortable living area on the other side with a small drop leaf table, dressers and an open area for playing.
The Living room/Dining room/Kitchen are all open to one another and if it weren't for the roof level (what are those called lofted?) ceilings they'd feel absolutely claustrophobic.
For 7 people, a few that are almost full grown, this has been tight.
The problem:
DS1 has no bedroom or play area
he had his own room in our old home and I didn't realize how much he needed it until we moved here.
He's really struggling with the move and he's really struggling not having a designated space that is "his".
And the Lego, everywhere all the time, they spread like a fungus across every single surface of the house. I know this is just a transition and short season but I am losing my mind. I can't sit or do anything without having to move Lego and he's extremely attached to whatever he was building in that spot.
I need some sort of way to section off a specific Lego place.
I could make a corner of the living room, dining room or office work. The master bedroom won't work because DH often works all night long and sleeps in and Ds1 never stops talking.
I also need to have a space where I can escape from everyone.
I'm mostly looking for some sort of storage solution or way to zone this I have no idea where to start. I could spend a little bit of money or creating a space for him, it would need to be a SMALL space. I need a way to have a visual boundary that he sees and can contain the lego mess inside. I am tempted to buy a s sandbox lol.
If you read this far, bless you! Please help!
