I can speed read. I’m pretty sure my parents used Evelyn Wood model.
I rarely use it but can if I want but sometimes do it
Accidentally. Personally I do better w fluff on speed reading than heavy material and now typically DO NOT choose to speed read unless I’m in a really hyper mood and catch myself speed reading if that makes sense.
However it was the opposite of what my parents intended as they hoped it would
Also help me w college. That said I have adhd and was already a reader w a huge capacity for comprehension. What it didn’t teach me was how to slow down and study difficult materials therefore I flunked out of college
I’m not sure if it was my brain or the concept but I don’t believe it worked FOR ME the way intended. For many years after my biggest TBI I couldn’t read print at all anymore (which was devastating). I fell asleep reading a non fiction last night and have to scroll back in my kindle cuz I’m lost in the book.
Because I didn’t know how to Study in high school
Cuz everything was easy, I taught my kids how to study vs speed reading. But I do believe speed reading can be a useful tool for people... just not everyone ... maybe those
Whose brains may work differently than mine?
ETA— what did work was the “speed math” based on chisanbop. I did teach my kids that. And still actively use it
