She notes in the recipe that the closest thing in the US is cayenne, so that's what I use. You want pure chili powder - so just the ground peppers - not the US chili powder with all the added spices. Chipotle powder
might work, if that's what you have on hand, or possibly Hot Paprika, but I don't have any right now to test it out. (I also use far less than the recipe calls for because half my gang can't handle spicy heat. The Thai peppers, which I use less of as well, add enough of a kick. The heat lovers can add more as garnish. My kids also can't eat peanuts, so we use tahini, or a combination of tahini and sunflower seed butter. The combo version to me tastes the most like actual peanut butter.)
