I highly recommend taking pictures when you move in and when you move out. Always request a walk-through in writing. If they refuse, get it in writing.

When we were first married we managed an apartment building in a university area. Some of the tenants left the apartments in utter filth. Just mind boggling how anyone could live like that.

No, you cannot be in any difficulty by vacating early if you are paid up. I'd let them know and insist on a walk through, though.
