I pay for Duolingo, well my subscription ended a few days ago and I told them why I was cancelling and then started a new subscription today.

(Your post actually reminded me to do so before the sale ended!) I subscribed so I could do lessons offline whilst abroad. However, it updates the downloaded bits every week and won't let you use it offline once it wants to do its weekly download. Which makes no sense. So I had to use some really bad café WiFi to update. It took the whole hour.
