Complimetary Pie-yummmy!
here is my favorite dish in the whole wide world even more than fried cabbage
Complimentary Pie
3/4 cups raw brown rice
1 can kidney beans (any color)
1 T butter
2 cups diced onions
1 eggs beaten
1 cup milk
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 t salt
1 t basil
1/2 worcheshire sauce
1) Cook rice. Saute onions in butter until very soft and just golden. Set aside
2) Beat milk with eggs; stir in grated cheese, salt, basil and worcheshire sauce. Then fold in sauteed onions, beans and cooked rice
3) Turn mixture into oiled 10 in pie plate
4) Bake at 325 for 30-45 (typically closer to 45) until custard has set and edges are brown. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
Serve with green salad and crusty bread.
