When i went to the babywearing conference last summer, Jan from Sleeping Baby Productions took one of those horrid recalled bag slings and used it to get a proper carry. She then took one of her own slings and showed how it could be used to improperly carry the baby and not protect the airway.

It was a powerful demonstration. Babywearing is a skill. A sling is a piece of cloth with two rings that can be used in a multitude of ways.

"Protect the airway" was the big safety push at the conference. Slings can be made as safely as possible, but positioning is everything.
