Mason jars are not air tight unless you are canning and seal them. Mine are constantly leaking stuff out, and you can hear things going pshhhshhhshh sometimes

I asked for the picklit jars for Christmas. I saw a blog entry from someone who microscoped the bacteria pictures, and there was WAY more bacteria from air tight containers than mason jars.
