I think it was an older issue of Family Circle (apr 17.09) that has the recipes for Coffee Crumb Cakes, Cream Filled Cupcakes, Snowy Coconut Rounds, Devilish cocoa sandwiches and Vanilla sponge cakes. The name of the article in the FC was "Double Takes" and it ran on pages 125-128.

I've made the cream filled cupcakes without filling them in, and they taste verrrrrrrrrry much like what they are supposed to be.

I'd actually reduce the sugar next time I make it.
