We have a deep fryer. We use it rarely but it's really nice when we do use it. The lid keeps the grease contained. The oil is expensive but we also recycle it aka use it again or lately using it for firestarter in our firepit.

We made fried fish and onion rings most recently. So good!

That said, it was definitely a dh purchase and not something I'd care to own if not for him.
