Default Help me salvage this soup!

I made a black bean quinoa soup tonight...and it was awful. So SO bland. I guess I should have clued in when I read the recipe and thought it sounded lacking

So I've got a huge pot of black bean quinoa soup, made with homemade veggie stock, onion and garlic, and next to no flavour. I tossed in a couple of tbsp of tomato paste.

What would you add to make it actually taste like something good?

a can of green chilis and "taco" flavorings (cumin, garlic, chili powder, oregano, salt and pepper) might give it some ooomph

Vinegar of some variety, worchestershire sauce, tabasco, and whatever seasoning was easiest to reach and didn't clash. Chipotle peppers in adobe sauce have saved many of my soups before.

A jar of salsa? Sounds crazy, but I make a black bean soup w/salsa & it is soooo good.
