Starmap 3D+ (app) Help?

I got this app on sale the other day, and we finally had a clear night to try and use it. I *think* we saw Mars, but other than that, it's over my head. I couldn't even figure out the compass feature.

Anyone have this app and want to give me some pointers?

I just have a run of the mill sky map app. Basically it works off location (so make sure your location feature is on) and I point the back of the phone to the sky and it tells me what is right there.

I'll ask my son, he has some kind of star app.

My son doesn't know the name of his app. He says that if your phone is 3g he has no idea how to help you. If not, go ahead and ask him.
