Mmmm. . . smells good.
Or rather I want it to.
I like a welcoming fragrant home but don't know how to accomplish that without the chemicals of the plug in things or candles. I know how to make a nice natural scent on the stove but am too ADD to remember that its on there simmering. Is there a way to make my house smell nice and vanilla cinnamon or pumpkin spice without the chemicals that irritate my skin and induce a headache? |

Re: Mmmm. . . smells good.
I wonder if you could use cinnamon sticks like a reed diffuser with vanilla?

Soy candles?
Simmer something but set a timer to remind you to turn it off? Essential oil diffuser fan? I got one at Whole Foods.

Re: Mmmm. . . smells good.
I also forget that there's something on the stove. I keep a roll of koeksister batter in the freezer. When company is coming I fry up a batch. Or even if I want something with my tea, i will make two or three. It tahes like five minutes to fry and dunk in syrup and roll in coconut.
Look up a cape malay version. It's like a spiced doughnut. Ginger and cinammon are really the essential spices, but you can put naartjie peels, cardamom, and aniseed in too. Every time I make them I get complimented on how cosy and home-like my home smells.

Re: Mmmm. . . smells good.
They make crockpot type things for potpourri, I would think you could use those w/ water and the same stuff you'd simmer on the stove (not sure how hot they get, you might need to bring it to a simmer on the stove, then pour it into the crockpot thing.
I've seen the suggestion of putting essential oils on light bulbs or on a cotton ball in the heating vents to diffuse it (like thieves oil in the winter time), that might work for your purposes too?

I get the wax warmers that plug into an outlet then I put essential oils in them- it works great.

Re: Mmmm. . . smells good.
That idea about the wax earners sound good. I wasn't sure I could do that. I have a wax melter that uses a candle below it think it woul work the same?

Re: Mmmm. . . smells good.
I often look at the scented aisle at the grocery store but end up getting nothing.
Where do you get a wax warmer?

Re: Mmmm. . . smells good.
I have an essential oil vaporizer. Water + oils. And it's electric. And I can set it for one hour or 4 hours, and it automatically shuts off after that time. (I'd rather have for 8 hours, but there you go. At least it won't stay on and burn dry. )

Re: Mmmm. . . smells good.
I used an essential oil diffuser, too. And I often put a few drops of essential oil into each garbage can. (That's my secret for unexpected company. Peppermint and/or lemon essential oil in the bathroom garbage makes it smell clean.)

Re: Mmmm. . . smells good.
I got one from Saje, which is a store in several provinces in Canada. It's very pretty, but they don't have it on their website any more. They do have lots of others. Their oils seem to be very good quality too.
