It's a bit sadistic, isn't it? But it's in his best interests, dontcha know.

I would *love* to have concrete evidence like that... It never happened when we cut things out before...

Re: D. R. P. T. ! (dietary revamp processing thread ;) )
new to this thread
We are GF & mostly DF. We started GF 4 months ago because of DDs eczema and it has totally cleared up! DF because of DS's reflux, which I think he is outgrowing so I've been eating it again, but he is spitting up a little again and I can tell he is a bit congested. But, not bad enough for me to go 100% again. We have been eating gluten the past couple days because DH has been suggesting we eat out and that is my weakness lol. But DD has been acting so terrible and having the occasional potty accident, definitely not worth dealing with for the convenience of not cooking dinner. going back full force tomorrow. Hopefully she will be back to normal in a couple days. She is so sweet and agreeable off gluten, its amazing! Yet DH refuses to see the connection lol. I've noticed in myself: my cracked heels have healed!! Which is so cool!

Re: D. R. P. T. ! (dietary revamp processing thread ;) )
I am really thinking that when we went wheat free many yrs ago, we must have done it wrong. Even though i was not buying maany packaged things, i thought that gluten was only in wheat.... i have been gearing up to going completely grain free. I dont even know what gluten is in, to be honest... ds had horrible ecxema when he was younger, and dd1 has is horribly as well... i know i just need to suck it up and do it already.

Re: D. R. P. T. ! (dietary revamp processing thread ;) )
wheat and barley are big ones. Where's that balanced bites worksheet.....there was a "gluten detective" page. I'll look.
---------- Post added at 08:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:22 AM ---------- agh that website is SO difficult to find anything on. It's a pdf page that katigre linked me to. It's in this thread somewhere - not too far back. |

I believe we were discussing fruit and how it is potentially a money waster in this thread. What are more nutrient/calorie dense snacks that you have for your children? And do you believe that the high sugar content outweighs the beneficial fiber, vitamins, flavonoids, cancer fighting benefits, etc.?

Re: D. R. P. T. ! (dietary revamp processing thread ;) )
i'm curious too. our snacks include: fresh fruit...homemade larabars (dates are fruit), trail mix (currants and raisins are fruit), dried fruit...DS also likes yogurt popsicles (with fruit ). He often has cheese and pickles.
It wouldn't work here to go half-way. We'd have to cut out fruit completely for him to eat carrots or broccoli for a snack. |

Re: D. R. P. T. ! (dietary revamp processing thread ;) )
We don't eliminate fruit, but try to eat it in moderation and preferably with a protein/fat. This doesn't address the budget factor, but I thought this list of snacks is a nice summary of options: http://www.thepaleomom.com/2012/05/kid-snacks.html

We're not paleo (mostly low grain though) and do mainly cheese for snacks.

I don't limit fruit as a snack. Stiina those snack options youlisted sound healthy to me, but I'm not a strict paleo dieter.
