Growing gooseberries and deer
Is it true the deer won't eat them? The leaves, I mean? If yes, I'm buying some tomorrow. My fenced garden is getting a little full. I was just at a garden center and they had red gooseberry bushes. The berries were delicious!

Re: Growing gooseberries and deer
I'm curious to know if/how it works! (We've got lots of deer around here.)

Re: Growing gooseberries and deer
Forgot to update. I never bought them. I asked in a local FB group (not a gardening group, just a very large local group) and multiple people said that the deer did eat their gooseberry bushes.
I do wonder about the advice, though, as then some people then proceeded to tell me to plant Russian sage as deer don't eat that. Yeah, I know deer don't eat Russian sage. Or mint. Or daisies. Or iris. Or lots of other plants. I want gooseberries. How is Russian sage a substitute for gooseberries? Makes me wonder if the people actually know what plants they have and what the deer are eating. Like my MIL who, every single time she sees columbine, says, "look at the honeysuckle." |

Re: Growing gooseberries and deer
Here is another site that looks like the author knows what they're doing and they list goosberries. I think I'll plant one.
