food issues does this happen in your home?
Where your family will suddenly decide they no longer like choice A best but now want choice B. So they total abandon choice A and whine their isn't enough of choice B... (that was clear right?)
An example.. (made up example but its to illustrate a point) Everyone likes apples everyone is fine having those for a quick snack or with a sandwhich at lunch time.. However I decide to add some pears to the mix.. Suddenly all decide Apples are only second best but Pears rule.. SO they all refuse to eat the second best choice but devour the new favorites then whine and complain we need to go by more. They haven't stopped liking the apples They just decided the pears were better That alone doesn't get me but then suddenly deciding the other choices are not good enough and acting as though I'm starving them because I wont run out and buy more pears is annoying and honestly to me comes off as spoiled and rude. (DH is as bad as a the kids).. They do this ALL the time so much that I VERY seldom bring in new things because... 1) the new thing goes to waste because no one bothers to try it at all.. Its all left for me and I can only have so much of one thing 2) thye decide it is the greatest and they abbandon all other similar choices for JUST this one type. Despite liking the previous choices fine. I dont mind they attacking new things focusing just on that till its is gone then returning to a previous choice. Its the now I only like Choice B cause choice A is not good enough anymore. Seriously drives me BATTY!

Re: food issues does this happen in your home?
I'd be annoyed...my kids will eat something and when I offer it as leftovers they tell me they don't like it "so much." It makes me . They are five and three so I figure they are trying to articulate that they'd rather have something else. But I certainly understand not bringing anything new into the house if all of a sudden they turn on "old faithful."

Re: food issues does this happen in your home?
My youngest will do that, EXCEPT he will actually claim he no longer likes whatever the previous food is. It is very exhausting.

Re: food issues does this happen in your home?
I can relate. I will offer a simple alternative at times, like if something is too spicy for my youngest. What gets me is when they then say there is something else w/the meal that they don't like. I always tell them, "You do not get two refusals." For some reason this sounds really serious to them & they never argue.

Re: food issues does this happen in your home?
I can take the pickiness. Or at least I get not wanting unwanted choices... however refusing foods you like just because you like something
else more is super annoying. Sent from my KFTHWI using Tapatalk

Re: food issues does this happen in your home?
I tell them, "This is the food I cooked. You can eat it or wait for the next meal."
If I could just get the man of the house to stop stocking the cupboard with crackers and chips, this might actually work.

Re: food issues does this happen in your home?
I say and do the same. Resulting in food going bad and having to be tossed out. Food they like. The pantry stuff well it can just sit around untill they decide it's worthy of their stomachs again. The wasted produce and other perishables is super frustrating.

Re: food issues does this happen in your home?
What would happen if you took your husband into the kitchen while you tossed the spoiled food and told him the cost of his finicky eating.?

With fruit and vegetables I have been known to eagerly await the first hint of imperfection (or a price hike) in the new favorite and declare it Out Of Season!

Re: food issues does this happen in your home?
Happens all the time here, and drives me crazy. Fruit and breakfast cereal are the worst things; I used to eat whatever they didn't want, but I've cut back dramatically on both of those, so I just don't buy as many new/different things as I used to.

Re: food issues does this happen in your home?
An excellent idea fron rjy9343:
"What would happen if you took your husband into the kitchen while you tossed the spoiled food and told him the cost of his finicky eating.?" Certainly worth trying. And why not take the kids to see it too if they are old enough to understand what money is? |
