Default Dark Chocolate Chips?

Anyone know where to buy dark chocolate chips at a GOOD price? I finally found a banana muffin recipe that's pretty healthy (I used coconut oil and honey) that my kids like, but I've always put chocolate chips in my muffins....I figure if I use dark chocolate chips, at least they'll be healthier, right? I don't think I want Nestle because they have some sort of wax in them. These Guittard chips are the cheapest I've found, but still more than I want to spend on a weekly basis. I wonder if Trader Joes sells any?

Any ideas?

I always use Ghirardelli, but that's more than the ones you've already found.

Can you buy from Azure Standard? That's where I buy mine from.

I don't know about that. Do you have to have a membership? I tried looking at it quickly though and it didn't look like it would be cheaper than the ones I posted.

I have a banana chocolate chip muffin recipe that uses half the sugar that one does if you're interested. We add 1/4 cup chocolate chips. Enjoy Life is what we have to use, so $3 seems cheap to me if you keep the amount of chips low, the bag will stretch. Or just reduce the amount of overall added sugar. Did you compare the label to the chips you usually use to see how dark they are comparatively?

The chips you linked above have 6g of sugar and the mini chips (regular, not dark) that I buy have 7g. Enjoy Life also has dark chocolate chips with 5g of sugar. I found other semi sweet chips with between 6-8g just searching online. So if you're using 1/4 cup chips or even 1/2, you're talking about a difference of less than 1g sugar per
Muffin.

I'd love your recipe to try...thanks!

The chips I used in the batch we have now are the Enjoy Life ones, but they were expensive so that's why I'm looking for something cheaper...but they were yummy! I'm eventually going to try using less chips to stretch the bag, but unfortunately for the last year I was making a recipe that was yummy but not healthy so I'm going to have to make baby steps here .

You do need a membership, but it's free to sign up. (They have an option to purchase a different membership that offers discounts, but I don't recommend it for most people.)

I use the mini chips from azure. They are df. I buy a 5lb bag and a little goes a lot farther than the larger size. They spread out more so you use less overall.

Yes! I had bought them at Sprouts when DH was cutting allergens out of his diet and just found them in my cupboard. They were so good!

DS1 doesn't like them for some reason, but I do! Too much!
