FWIW, as long as it is NOT wool or silk, I like to use oxyclean in the wash plus vinegar in the rinse to get most smells out. Unfortunately, neither of those is safe on wool or silk (animal fibers) because they'll break down the fiber in the same manner as a stain or odor, so definitely check the label for content.

Yes. I would wash it on cold. Possibly put baking soda in the wash? Maybe rinse or soak it in that on cold then wash it with your normal detergent.
