I want to get a phone just to have for when my younger kids are separated from me. I don't plan to keep it loaded with minutes all the time but it would be so handy to have an extra phone during sport seasons. So I'm looking in the Walmart and Target apps and you can really get an Android for less than $50? I don't care about performance while gaming or anything, I just want it to work for text, talk, and maybe hotspot.
Because of where we live, only Verizon, Visible, or Total Wireless networks are feasible. Am I missing something or is it really this inexpensive?

That is pretty average. We have been using prepaid phones for some of our kids for years now. $50-$100 for an android is pretty standard. They usually don't have all the bells and whistles the more expensive ones have, but they work just fine. You can even get flip phones for around $10-$20 (if they still sell those).

Yes, I did see flip phones.
Thank you! I definitely don't need bells and whistles but just basic Android capabilities.

It’s been a long time since I set foot in an actual store, but you can definitely get a functional one for
$30+. DS has a collection of cheap androids, it’s his special interest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yes, my daughter had a prepaid phone for a couple years and I think we paid $30 for it. It worked just fine. We did not allow data use, but worked well for talk and text.

I ended up getting a $100 Samsung since one of my kids is getting into Android development. It works great.
