Re: laundry question (poll)
I do not wash underwear separately. I choose to believe (whether it is true or not) that my washing machine works and kills (or washes away) germs. And if it doesn't, the dryer kills them with as hot as my clothes are when I get them out.

Re: laundry question (poll)
I can't link from my phone but I read an article a while back that said water temp doesn't matter because hot water doesn't kill germs anyway. It's the hot dryer that kills things. That might freak him out even more though.
Like everyone else, I sort by color.

Re: laundry question (poll)
Yes, it would have to be so hot (as in boiling) that clothing would degrade. But mechanically washing away the germs and impurities does happen more easily the warmer it is.

Re: laundry question (poll)
It's the same thing with washing your hands- you don't wash your hands hoping that the hot water will kill the germs. That would hurt too much. Soap and scrubbing and rinsing wash them away.

Re: laundry question (poll)
It is not the germs on the clothing as much as the residue from the germs in the washing machine that bothers me. I have three boys and they all have skid marks in their underwear. I wash their underwear and muddy socks in the sanitize cycle. I make sure the load after them is not dish towels.

Re: laundry question (poll)
I do not sort and wash everything hot or warm and buy considering that.
