Default Stevia may disrupt communication among gut bacteria

This is a potential issue requiring more research.

Quote:
Scientists examined the effect of the popular sugar substitute and its purified extracts and found that while it did not destroy bacteria it did inhibit their communication pathways. In higher concentrations, it also led to an imbalance of the gut microbiome, the microorganisms that live in the digestive tracts of humans and other animals.

Personally, I noticed several years ago that I feel "funny" after consuming a lot of stevia. I figured I was sensitive to it in some way and eliminated it entirely. Now, a few years later, I have it occasionally but not on purpose. Sometimes I buy something that happens to have stevia. I don't have any issues. Like many things, I think it could be in the amount consumed.

The gut biome is so important to our health, both physical and mental/emotional, IMO.

This is something Iíve realized. I can feel it. If I use stevia my sensitive tummy gets gurgly.
