Daybed instead of futon....
I was thinking about putting a day
Bed in our sunroom...primarily to be utilized more like a casual sofa...to sit and read with the kids, etc. BUT having it for out of town company if the need should arise. Anyone ever done this? I recently saw a couple used futons on a fb sale page, but the mattresses looked very whomped out. They were not the kind of mattresses with coils, but I question if even that type would soon look that way i told dh, “hey! We have an extra twin mattress already...and even though it is YEARS old it is in better shape than those futon mattresses!” He is having a hard time envisioning it (a daybed) being used more like a sofa...but I showed him some pics on pinterest. I had no idea “sleeping porches” were a THING, |

Re: Daybed instead of futon....
We considered a daybed for our guest room before baby two meant that it became a bedroom, lol.
I liked the kind with storage or trundles included, and this one here if you have the space. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30349329/ |

Re: Daybed instead of futon....
I have seen that done before and it looked good. I second the idea of having a trundle underneath as well to have room for even more guests if needed. You can buy or make foam bolsters to be the back of the sofa.

Re: Daybed instead of futon....
I would go for that rather than a futon. We had a futon and it really wasnt very comfy for guests. Had to put some padding on it

Re: Daybed instead of futon....
The mattress is everything. If you're going to use is mainly as a sofa it needs to be firm.
We bought our futon from a futon store 16 years ago. The mattress came with a 10 year guarantee. If, at any time within 10 years, we thought it wasn't comfortable, they'd replace it. Everyone who sleeps on it raves about it and wants to know where we bought it. It was worth every penny. Cheap futons, and probably free futons, aren't going to be comfortable. |
