Can y'all post links to the supplements you use? Every brand seems to have so many options and I don't know which one I'm supposed to get.

Which Jarrow supplement are you referring to? Does it include b6?

I'm homozygous C677T for MTHFR, too. It scared me to death when I first found out about it, but now it's not so scary. My functional medicine PA reassures me that humans have had this mutation for thousands of years and that it's only the toxic things in our environment that need culling. She always makes me feel better when I just feel like I'm a train wreck. Also, there's research to suggest that those with MTHFR are actually somewhat cancer-immune, so there's that.

Okay, for supplements, you want a really good multivitamin with methylfolate --- absolutely NO folic acid, in anything (check your cereal box, if your dh eats it). Here's the one I'm using right now: https://www.amazon.com/Pure-Encapsul...61GKG6B1AFFDMG My PA was very impressed with it.

Here's the b12 the PA recommended: https://www.amazon.com/Perque-Activa...1THH12HSARG6GQ

I also take this B: https://www.amazon.com/Biotics-Resea...8MC371JQN82G42

A good magnesium wouldn't hurt: https://www.amazon.com/Metabolic-Mai...ZGXCPVNEXMHH5J

Vit D: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Last, but not least, he needs either TMG or DMG. This is my preferred brand, but I went with Swanson TMG to save some money (I'm not convinced Swanson's is that good though). http://store.centerforholisticmedici...ct-p/00629.htm

I'm also taking zinc and choline, but those are more specific to me rather than homozygous MTHFR I think.

Oh, also, gluten-free is pretty important from what I've read.

Gluten free and dairy free for this type of MTHFR. My oldest has it.

Thank you, Tracey!

What is the MOST important supplement to add, of the ones that you linked to? We definitely can't afford to get all of them.

What's the TMG/DMG for? How do you know which one you need?

Did your DH have his various levels checked? That will help you decide on supplements. B12, D3, Folic acid, Folate, Homocysteine, etc.

Default Re: MTHFR questions

I'd start with multivitamin, B12 and D3 personally.

The TMG/DMG reduces homocysteine in the blood. When homocysteine is high, there's an increased risk of blood clots, stroke, heart attack, etc....

No, not yet. We're in a frustrating place with doctors right now. Not sure when/if he'll be able to get tested any time soon so we're trying to do what we can on our own.
