Good, cheap multi?
I need to start taking a decent multi vitamin/mineral but I can't afford to spend a whole lot! Any suggestions?

Re: Good, cheap multi?
Most multis are synthetic vitamins which I have heard can cause some kinds of problems or be worthless because your body just doesnt absorb them. Plant based vitamins are more but helpful. You may want to consider some kind of a green powder that you could mix in juice that would give you that boost of folate and iron and vitamins and minerals that you may be wanting. even if you just take a small amount each day if you are absorbing healthy vitamins would be better than spending money on vitamins your body cant really use?

Re: Good, cheap multi?
I would definitely consider something other than a traditional multi as long as it isn't too too expensive

Re: Good, cheap multi?
I don't do multi vitamins, I probably should now that I don't eat as well but I heard a couple of moms chattering about rainbow vitamins last time I was at the co op. I think it is plant based rather than synthetic.
But since I am really into food as medicine I would say identify what your low in and modify your diet to suit it. For instance some types of blue green algae have loads of iron. Qunoia and Chia are loaded with b vitamins. Vitamins A&D are in good butter and lard. Although it may be more challenging and introduce a few more calories to your diet, finding food sources of the vitamins your lacking will be a long term solution. That way you will gradually modify your diet to have what you need as opposed to having to get more bottles of vitamins in the future. |

Re: Good, cheap multi?
I usually do well getting my nutrients through food. But I've made some short-term changes in what I eat. My body is responding well to them, but I know I'm not getting everything I need. So I want a good supplement to take until I go back to my regular way of eating.
